Small Animal Anti-Oxidant 120vc is available by Thorne Research Veterinary.
combats free radicals
* antioxidant nutrients and botanicals
* broad-spectrum antioxidant support
* neutralize free radicals
Product Information
Free radicals are produced as a
normal consequence of biochemical processes in the body and as a result
of increased exposure to environmental and/or dietary xenobiotics.
Although free radicals can cause damage to the body, at the same time
they can be beneficial components of the immune response, hepatic
cytochrome p450-mediated detoxification, and regulation of smooth muscle
tone. An imbalance in the pro-oxidant versus antioxidant processes
(oxidative stress) is thought to contribute to ill health.
Small Animal Antioxidant was designed to provide a broad-spectrum
nutrient and botanical antioxidant formula. While antioxidants have
broad activity within the cells or cell membranes of the body, certain
antioxidant nutrients and botanicals appear to have a particular
affinity for certain bodily tissues. The following chart represents a
generalized approach to identifying tissue specificity, although it is
not an exhaustive list of organs or tissues that can benefit from a
particular nutrient or botanical.
Vitamin C +
Antioxidant in water-soluble environments, such as within the cell cytosol ++
Vitamin E +
Provides antioxidant support in fat-soluble environments such as cell membranes ++
Vitamin A +
Fat-soluble antioxidant with particular affinity for skin and other epithelial tissues ++
Mixed Carotenoids +
Important plant-pigment antioxidants from algae; pro-vitamin A; affinity for skin and other epithelium ++
Milk Thistle +
Particular affinity for the liver, a site of significant oxidative stress due to its detoxification functions ++
Grape Seed Extract +
pecial affinity for blood vessel and collagen support ++
Selenium +
A cofactor for glutathione peroxidase; protects cells from lipid peroxidation ++
alpha-Lipoic Acid +
Antioxidant in both fat- and water-soluble environments; special affinity for nerve cell membranes and the live
++ + = ANTIOXIDANT
